Institution Where the Research Will Be Conducted: Mersin University
Project Duration: 24 Months
This project aims to evaluate the effect of integrating trauma-informed care (TIC) into maternity services on women's birth-related traumatic stress symptoms and healthcare professionals' psychosocial well-being. The study will be conducted at Tarsus State Hospital and will include organisational leaders, healthcare professionals, and women giving birth. Planned with a quasi-experimental (pre-test–post-test controlled) design, the project will assess women's birth-related traumatic stress symptoms and healthcare professionals' traumatic stress, burnout, and job satisfaction levels before and after the TBB organisation. As part of the intervention, TBB training will be provided to organisational leaders and healthcare professionals, and maternity services will be structured in line with this approach. The project outputs are expected to contribute to reducing birth-related traumatic effects, supporting the psychological well-being of healthcare professionals, and integrating trauma-informed care into the healthcare system as a sustainable care model in Turkey. It is intended that the findings obtained will be shared on national and international scientific platforms and will serve as a guide for educational curricula and in-service training programmes.
