Our university hosted an important academic programme aimed at developing students' perspectives on the future by addressing the rapidly changing global dynamics. The conference, titled The Next 30 Years: Technological Advancement, Climate Change, Drought, Economic and Geopolitical Developments, was held on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Şehit İstihkâm Üsteğmen Ozan Olgu Köreke Conference Hall.
Samet Çelik, who was a speaker at the event organised by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, gave a comprehensive presentation on the socio-economic transformations, global power balances, risks caused by the climate crisis, and leaps in technology that await the world in the next 30 years, and how they will reshape social structures.
The conference analysed the potential effects of global warming and drought on the world population, agricultural productivity, and economic sustainability, while also evaluating how artificial intelligence, automation, and digitalisation could transform labour markets. Participants also had the opportunity to learn about new forms of geopolitical competition, energy security, and changing economic blocs.
The event, which was also attended by students from Tarsus TOBB Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School as guests, aimed to develop the students' multidimensional thinking skills within the framework of future projections and to support their ability to interpret the global agenda from a scientific perspective. The programme was enriched with a question-and-answer session and concluded with interactive insights into the future world.
