Tarsus Üniversitesi’nin temelleri 1992 yılında Mersin Üniversitesi’ne bağlı olarak kurulan Tarsus Meslek Yüksekokulu ile atılmıştır. 2001 yılında Tarsus Teknik Eğitim Fakültesi, 2005 yılında Uygulamalı Teknoloji ve İşletmecilik Yüksekokulu kurulmasıyla eğitim faaliyetlerini genişletmiştir.Bugün itibari ile 4 fakülte, 1 enstitü, 1 yüksekokul ve 2 meslek yüksekokulu ile faaliyetlerini sürdürmektedir.

Commemoration Programme Held on the Third Anniversary of the 6 February Earthquakes

On the third anniversary of the February 6th earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, Tarsus University organized a commemoration program to remember the great disaster and honor the citizens who lost their lives. The program, held in the Martyr Lieutenant Ozan Olgu Köreke Conference Hall, was attended by Tarsus University Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Özen, academic and administrative staff, and students. The program began with a commemorative speech and a moment of silence for all citizens who perished in the earthquake, especially Tarsus University students Asrın Türkmenoğlu, Emennur Kazan, Emre Karakaş, Hamza Burak Yollı, Sena Özkan, Şükran Araz, and Şükriye Çinçin. The commemoration program included a screening of a documentary featuring images from the earthquake and its aftermath. Following the documentary, the program continued with a conference titled "The Importance of Psychosocial Support" given by Tarsus University Psychologist Erkan Alkan. In his conference, Alkan... Based on the experiences of individuals who directly lived through the earthquake, Alkan emphasized the importance of post-traumatic psychosocial support, maintaining life motivation, the healing effect of social solidarity and unity, and the vital importance of disaster preparedness. Noting that post-disaster processes should be addressed not only in their physical, psychological, and social dimensions, Alkan stated that strengthening post-traumatic support mechanisms plays a critical role not only in protecting individual well-being but also in societal recovery. Alkan also pointed out that the spirit of social unity and solidarity displayed during the earthquake is a fundamental source of strength in overcoming the traumas caused by disasters.
