As part of an internship programme aimed at enhancing academic and industrial cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, students from Tarsus University completed internships at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) site. During their internships, the students had the opportunity to observe technical processes related to nuclear power technologies on site and reinforce their theoretical knowledge through practical experience.

The internship programme was carried out in accordance with a protocol signed between the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye, Tarsus University, and Akkuyu Nuclear JSC to strengthen academic and industrial cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. A total of 18 students from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Tarsus University participated in the programme.

The students underwent an intensive training and practical experience process at the Akkuyu NPP, which is currently under construction in the Gülnar district of Mersin. Throughout their internships, they participated in activities conducted across various technical units of the plant and gained knowledge about the operating principles and technical processes of the nuclear power plant, as well as the duties and responsibilities of the relevant units.

The students completed their internships in various departments, including thermal automation and measurement, ventilation and air conditioning, radiation safety, and commercial dispatching. Throughout the programme, they also benefited from the guidance and supervision of experts working at Akkuyu Nuclear JSC.
