Tarsus Üniversitesi’nin temelleri 1992 yılında Mersin Üniversitesi’ne bağlı olarak kurulan Tarsus Meslek Yüksekokulu ile atılmıştır. 2001 yılında Tarsus Teknik Eğitim Fakültesi, 2005 yılında Uygulamalı Teknoloji ve İşletmecilik Yüksekokulu kurulmasıyla eğitim faaliyetlerini genişletmiştir.Bugün itibari ile 4 fakülte, 1 enstitü, 1 yüksekokul ve 2 meslek yüksekokulu ile faaliyetlerini sürdürmektedir.

YÖK 2025 Report: Tarsus University Ranks High in Many Indicators

The Higher Education Council (YÖK) published the YÖK University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report 2025, which presented evaluation data on numerous topics related to universities' performance in education, academic production, and scientific impact. According to the report, Tarsus University achieved significant success by ranking highly in many indicators.
It demonstrated great success by ranking first as the university with the highest average number of publications in journals included in the TR DIZIN index. In terms of academic productivity indicators, Tarsus University ranked second in Turkey in terms of the number of publications per faculty member in journals indexed by TR DIZIN and fourth in terms of the total number of publications per faculty member. 
Ranked 11th among universities with the highest satisfaction rates in course delivery, Tarsus University also rose to 11th place in the 2024 TÜDA data on faculty satisfaction rankings. Our university ranked 16th among universities that stand out in the category of normalised citation impact, which indicates scientific influence.

These data, announced by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), reveal that Tarsus University continues its steady rise in the areas of educational quality and academic performance.
