Tarsus University hosted an important event aimed at raising social awareness. The programme, entitled ‘Training on Combating Violence Against Women’, was held on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, at 2 p.m. in the Şehit İstihkâm Üsteğmen Ozan Olgu Köreke Conference Hall.
Organised in collaboration with the Tarsus District Social Services Centre Directorate, the event aimed to raise awareness about combating violence against women and to provide information about protective and preventive mechanisms. Sociologist Ayşe Dilmen from the Tarsus District Social Services Centre Directorate was the speaker at the programme. In her presentation titled ‘Violence Against Women,’ Dilmen shared comprehensive information on the types of violence, its social impacts, and methods of combating it.
At the event, Police Officer Cemile Güvenç from the Community Supported Policing Bureau also gave an informative presentation on the KADES (Women's Support) application, which is an important tool in combating violence against women. Güvenç answered participants' questions about the application's usage process and the opportunities it offers.
In the final part of the programme, the works prepared by the students of the Child Development Department of the Vocational School of Health Services within the scope of the ‘3rd Transformative Art, Artistic Transformation Exhibition’ were introduced. The presentation on the exhibition was made by second-year students Aslı Sal, Aslı Baydan, Ceren Öztek, Mürüvet Kendir and Nuray Tatar.
Enriched with informative presentations and artistic works, the event contributed to raising social awareness in the fight against violence against women and concluded after a question and answer session with the participants.
